Hello, welcome to 2RO
This term, our theme is Australia, where we will be studying and celebrating the differences between England and Australia
In English, we’re going to be developing our vocabulary and aim to write some extended pieces of writing using and apply varying sentence starters, alliteration and adjectives to make our writing more interesting. We will be looking at changing the Pie Corbett story “The magic b about our hometown Scunthorpe.
In Maths, we will continue to use Big Maths to help us become more fluent and confident with lots of new skills like column addition and subtraction. Whilst also continuing to develop our ability to solve a range of reasoning problems, applying the skills we know.
Key Topic Areas:
In Science, we’re looking at investigating ice and where it melts the fastest/slowest in various locations. In Art, we’ll be looking at and drawing Winter Trees sketching the lines to add detail with care. We shall also be using clay to design and make Boomerangs using clay. Our main focus area is Geography. We shall be continuing with our map skills, drawing a bird’s eye view of our classroom and adding a key. This will also include using a grid reference to locate key areas. In addition, be using Atlases to locate England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales on a map and Identifying the Capital Cities of the four countries. As we lead on we shall be looking at Europe, Australia in particular. We will consolidate locating the seven continents and five oceans. The children will be keeping temperature diaries to compare the differences in climate and compare aerial views of Scunthorpe and Australia identifying the different features.
Things To Remember.
Spelling.- Spelling test are completed on Thursdays
PE- Our PE day’s are- Tuesday
Club 33- Testing is Wednesday.
Reading- Diaries and reading are checked on Fridays for Pupil of the Week eligibility. Children must read at home three times per week.
