Welcome to 3SS
We have a class of 26 and our teacher is Mrs Somerville.
This term, our theme is Delicious Dahl, where we will be studying and celebrating the work of Roald Dahl. We’ve taken part in our Roald Dahl Day on Thursday 13th September – our costumes were fabulous and we thoroughly enjoyed taking parts in a lot of different Roald Dahl themed activities!
In English, we’re going to be developing our vocabulary and creating work in lots of different genres. Lots of our inspiration will come from our class novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
In Maths, we will continue to use Big Maths to help us become more fluent and confident with new skills like column addition and subtraction, to name but two, whilst continuing to develop our ability to solve reasoning problems.
Key Topic Areas:
In Science, we’re looking at materials and the three states of matter. I’m sure we’ll be able to get lots of work involving lovely chocolate in our lessons in this subject! In Art, we’ll study the work of Quentin Blake in particular. In Geography we’ll continue with our map skills.
Things To Remember:
Our PE days are - Monday (outdoor) and Wednesday (indoor).
If the weather is poor on the Monday we will have an indoor dance PE session.
On Mondays this term, we’ll be working on Invasion Games and Athletics, whilst covering Dance during our indoor sessions.
Spelling tests are completed on Thursdays.
Beat That testing is Wednesday. Our Beat That focus in Year 3 is times tables so this is a good area to practise at home.
Diaries and reading are checked on Fridays for Pupil of the Week eligibility.
