Welcome to 4FS
This term, our theme is ‘The Greatest Show’, where we will be focussing on circuses around the world. We will be exploring how and where circuses originated, their geographical locations and how they have changed over time.
In English, we’re going to be developing our vocabulary and creating work in lots of different genres including story writing and persuasive arguments. Our class story will be ‘The Boy who Swam with Piranhas’ which so far the children are thoroughly enjoying!
In Maths, we will continue to use Big Maths to help us become more fluent and confident with new skills in multiplication and division, whilst continuing to develop our ability to solve reasoning problems.
In Science, we’re looking at the forces and magnets. In Geography we’ll continue with our map skills and effectively using the atlases. In RE will we will look at Saints and Heroes, specifically St Hugh.
As part of the National Curriculum expectations the Year 4 children will be undertaking their swimming lessons and water safety this term. This will commence on Monday 4th February and will run for 8 weeks. Please ensure children bring their appropriate clothing and do not come to school dressed in their swimwear. This will be in place of our outdoor Tuesday sessions. Friday indoor sessions will continue as normal.
