Welcome to 5KA and our
Whistle-stop tour of Hong Kong!
That’s right folks! The second part of our Spring topic this year will see us visit the fascinating country of Hong Kong. During our topic we will be looking at a whole host of different aspects such as lifestyle, climate and perhaps most importantly... FOOD! YUM YUM!!
Our class reader this term will be an exciting book of short stories called “Survivors” by David Long. This wonderful anthology is a treat for all the family and would be a great addition to the library of any child who wants to learn more about the world. These shocking, yet amazing real life tales of extreme survival will captivate the children and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share it with them.
In the last half term we transitioned to a new type of Beat That test called Club 99 – and what a success it has been! We have already given out over thirty certificates to children in 5KA - some lucky children have had three already! This has been a great success and I urge you to keep pushing the children to beat their scores as these weekly tests have really helped to improve their mental maths skills.
We’re half way through the school year but there is still so much more to come! There will be many investigations, experiments, problems to solve and questions to answer as the term progresses and all of the children will need to have their brains switched on at all times – no slacking with Mr. Andrew in town! It’s going to be an exciting time!
